How to Get Discord Nitro Features for Free

Hello there. Discord Nitro is a waste of money, so I will show you how to install a client mod along with plugins that closely replicate paid Discord features without costing you a penny.

While this method is against Discord’s terms of service, it is almost never enforced. These fake perks, unless stated otherwise, will not sync across devices.

Installing a Client Modification

Vencord

Vencord can be installed from vencord.dev by downloading and running the executable for your operating system. On Linux you can run the below command:

sh -c "$(curl -sS https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Vendicated/VencordInstaller/main/install.sh)"

Plugins can be added straight away by clicking on User Settings, Plugins and then having a scroll.

BetterDiscord

BetterDiscord is installed with an executable file from betterdiscord.app much like Vencord. On Linux, you’ll have to give the AppImage you downloaded the permission to execute. Open a terminal in the folder it’s downloaded to and type this command:

chmod u+x BetterDiscord-Linux.AppImage -c

Plugins are downloaded from BetterDiscord's website. You must move all .plugin.js files to the plugins folder. This can be found by clicking on User Settings, Plugins and then Open Plugins Folder. To save time, you could get PluginRepo by DevilBro first, so that you can install plugins from within the client

Mobile Client Mods

These are grouped together, as the steps are almost identical. Aliucord is a mod for the Android app. It's worth noting that it only supports versions before the big layout change; this is likely an advantage, as the new layout sucks arse.

Vendetta is slightly more complicated. It supports both the Android and iOS versions and requires slightly different method depending on if your device is rooted/jailbroken or not.

Follow these steps for any Android version:

  1. Download and run the latest APK file from the relevant GitHub Release.
  2. Give your browser permission to install unknown apps; this’ll be either under Security or Apps & Permissions. I’d turn it off afterwards just to be safe.
  3. Open the newly installed installer and tap Install at the top. You’ll also need to give it the same permission.
  4. Log in and chat with your kitten as normal. The installer will notify you when there’s a new version.

Aliucord plugins can be found in #plugins-list inside Aliucord's server. Long press on any message with a GitHub link and select Install [plugin name]. I recommend you seek out PluginRepo by mantikafasi, as then you can add plugins from User Settings instead.

Vendetta plugins are added from #plugins inside Vendetta's server. Tap on the vd-plugins.github.io link (often masked as Install). Otherwise, you could install PluginBrowser by nexpid to fetch them from User Settings instead.

Emoji and Stickers

These plugins give you the power to send emoji and stickers as links which are embedded as images. However, you can’t use these alongside text or add new reactions.

Nitro Themes

If it’s only the Nitro themes you want, then these plugins have you covered.

Custom Themes

They’re are a bit more hands-on, but well worth it if you appreciate customization like I do. These are installed similar to plugins.

BetterDiscord has an assortment of custom themes that also work with Vencord.

Aliucord themes can be installed providing you have Themer by Vendicated. These can be added from #themes in their server or from User Settings with ThemeRepo by mantikafasi.

For Vendetta, you'll have to search their server's #themes manually. Sadly there's not a PluginBrowser equivalent for themes yet.

User Profile Themes

These plugins use what’s called 3y3 encoding to store the colours you choose as invisible Unicode characters. You need only paste these invisible characters into your About Me and they’ll be applied to your profile. This also means other users with these plugins will be able to see your custom colours and you’ll be able to see theirs!

User Banners

For this, you need to submit your banner in the Black Box Discord server as described on the USRBG GitHub. Once approved by a moderator, it’ll be added to a database so that anyone with compatible plugins will see you're fabulous banner.

Uncapped Streaming

Vencord’s Fake Nitro once again to the rescue, as it allows you to stream in Nitro quality with no setup needed. Lovely jubbly.

Long Messages

While there isn’t a way to give you more characters per message, there are plugins that automatically divide up messages that are too long.
